First look: Coast HP17 Flashlight

COAST FlashlightCoast Portland sent out the Coast HP17 flashlight for use to test out. Instead of a small flashlight, or one of their headlamp models I asked for a full size flashlight.  You may recognize the name, Coast Portland because we have reviewed several of their products.  Checkout our review of the DX335 Rescue Knife and Rapid Response knife.

Coast’s Pure Beam Focusing Optic System with Slide Focus  provides superior beam consistency from spot to flood, with no dark rings typically associated with focusing flashlights, and you can lock the beam focus in any position you want with our Beam Lock System.

COAST FlashlightThe bottom line, the HP17 is not a cheap flashlight.  If price is that important than buy a MagLite.  You get what you pay for and the HP17 is not a bad tool to have in your arsenal.  If you search around the internet a little,  you can find it for less than retail,  Amazon had the HP17 Flashlight on sale for $76. Plus, your flashlight is backed by Coast’s lifetime guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship.
