This post will be a two part series about the 2020 Acura MDX Hybrid. The first post, will cover the body structure and airbag locations. The second, will be the hybrid systems and shutdown procedures. Below is the body of the Acura MDX Sport Hybrid which is made up of high-strength steel, ultra-high-strength steel, and a magnesium dash support.
The Acura MDX Sport Hybrid is equipped with pyrotechnically activated tensioners on the front seatbelts. In addition, the Acura MDX Sport Hybrid is equipped with the following airbags:
- Front Airbags – Driver/Front Passenger
- Side Airbags – Driver/Front Passenger
- Side Curtain Airbags – Driver’s Side/Passenger’s Side (Both Rows)
- Knee Airbag – Driver
Per Acura, It takes up to 3 minutes for the airbags and tensioners to power off after the 12-volt system has been turned off by following the emergency shutdown procedures.
