Sheet-metal panels are rarely welded to the vehicle body structure in new vehicles. Nissan is reducing the thickness of panels by using stronger steel in the body structure. The steel used is a newly adopted 1.2 Gpa advanced high-strength steel along with an increased usage of 980MPa.
