The World Health Organization (WHO) Road Safety Report states that traffic crashes result in the deaths of approximately 1.3 million people around the world each year and leave between 20 and 50 million people with non-fatal injuries. Mercedes-Benz has always been at the forefront of safety in the auto industry and many of its features trickle down into all vehicles across manufacturers. So, it should be no secret that the company is pursuing a clear goal: to achieve accident-free driving by 2050. The image below is from the EQS Model V297 sedan Rescue Sheet. While the reinforced rocker panel/door sill is a tempting push point to help with different extrication techniques, we need to consider that if we compromise it and the battery could be damaged. This is why I believe Mercedes-Benz put this warning in their guide.
